All about Bora Bora- spectacular lagoon, amazing water activities, incredible view….

Bora Bora Island, French Polinesia

Of all the islands that make up French Polynesia, Bora Bora is the most beautiful and magical of them all. The view of Bora Bora from the airport is truly breathtaking, and as you travel across the spectacular lagoon you will soon understand why it is the main area of attraction for most visitors. The main island of Bora Bora lies in the center of a multi-bluish colored lagoon. Surrounding the main island are several smaller islands, known as motu or motu islets. The island and the surrounding motus are surrounded by a protective coral barrier often referred to as a protective necklace. It’s quite the beautiful necklace.
The most mythical of the Pacific islands – Bora Bora remains the island of all dreams. Lying 143 miles northwest of Tahiti in the South Pacific, Bora Bora is only six miles long, but it has two towering volcanic peaks. To the southeast of the island is the Coral Garden, a natural underwater park where all types of fish and corals are found.

Around the main island, there is only one main road for you to travel. This road, or “pass” as it is often referred to, makes for a nice tour of the island and will take you through the colorful Tahitian villages. You can also see Old World War II cannons and bunkers and spectacular archaeological sites. You can take this tour on your own or take one of the tour buses or tour packages offered on the island.

Over the last few years several resorts have been built on motu (small islands) surrounding the lagoon. Thirty years ago, Hotel Bora Bora built the first over-the-water bungalows on stilts over the lagoon and today, over-water bungalows are a standard feature of most Bora Bora resorts. The quality of those bungalows ranges from comparably cheap, basic accommodations to very luxurious and expensive places to stay. Most of the tourist destinations are aquacentric.

If you wonder why visit Bora Bora-don’t. The place is amazing, yet I can give you some reasons, which by the way are innumerable. The first of too many reasons to visit Bora Bora- this is the most romantic island. Many couples come here for their honeymoons or just to enjoy the spectacular views. Other reason is that Bora Bora possesses the world famous over-water bungalows. They offer an amazing view of the lagoon and the sunsets. Also, very important to be said is that the sunsets here are always breathtaking. It must have to do with crystal, turquoise water that helps reflect the sunlight  with a unique twist of radiant colors. All that makes Bora Bora the perfect destination. However, there is many more – the underwater experience is world’s most spectacular. You will be amazed by the underwater attractions. You can go scuba diving, snorkeling, try the Aqua Safari, Aquascope, or go to the Lagoonarium.

The exotic Lagoonarium is the most popular attraction in Bora Bora. There, along with a guide, you can swim with the inhabitants of the sea. This means you can really get the opportunity to swim with dolphins, turtles, sharks and many others exotic fishes.
The Aqua Safari – here you don’t need to use the scuba dive tanks and belts. You just have to use a comfortable helmet so as to see the underwater surroundings.
The Aquascope – if you want to stay dry – there is a solution. The Aquascope represents a watercraft that submerges and and takes to all the hot spots in the lagoon, in the same time you’re safely submerged below the water surface with an amazing view of the sea life in the area.

While being in Bora Bora you can simply enjoy relaxation. Laying on the beach, with a cocktail, and experiencing the paradise that surrounds you sounds perfect. If you want to make something adventurous the island have many prepositions. You can go climbing or hiking, do deep sea fishing or take a jeep safari tour. If you are a person of the water sports, the possibilities are two: the above water activities and below water activities. Below the crystal clear blue water lies the most colorful and beautiful sea life ever imagined. To see this wonderful underwater world you can go snorkeling or scuba diving. If you would rather stay on top of the water, you can enjoy sailing, water skiing, wind/kite-surfing, jet skiing or just swimming and relaxing with your feet in the ocean.
There also are many other activities for the tourists, such as: horseback riding, parasailing, jeep tour of the island, boat rentals, shark feeding, picnic on a private island.
When you are in Bora Bora, your options for activities to take part in are virtually endless. There is something for everyone, so you should have no problems making use of all your time on the island.
